Spring at Oak Grove Garden

Going out to Mamma and Papa's house is always a beautiful adventure!  We missed the annual spring open garden due to school and volleyball events but got our own personal afternoon out at the grove!  This probably was for the best.  The kids had the run of the place while I was trying to keep them from playing hide n seek behind the tulip beds!

Spring is the season for tulips and in the past few years they just get more glorious!  This year they did early, mid, and late season bloomers which meant that they have had a longer blooming season but also that the flower beds are changing colors!  Which is super fun to watch.  I wanted to capture some of the beauty so that we can reflect on the blessing of having master gardeners for grandparents and the beauty that brings!

This garden will soon be covered with all the veggies!  But it is pretty with just dirt!  Full of potential for what's to come...yum!  I just hope there is squash (my fav!).

Luke collected the eggs from the coop by himself and had a plan to "hatch" the eggs himself.  He was going to use a blanket to keep them warm!  Bless.  So ornery! He actually said he was going to tell Mamma and Papa "NO, you can't have them!"  We had to convince him that these were just breakfast eggs not baby chicks.

I'm still not sure what they call this little pond but the kids were fascinated by the things they found. Like snails, fish, and barnacles.

Papa bought live worms for the first fishing afternoon of the year.  All of them are coming along with their fishing skills.  The older two are basically self sufficient and can be turned loose.  Caroline's casting is getting so good!  Unfortunately,  the only one to actually catch fish that afternoon was Daddy!  He showed off with 7 or 8 catches.  I think Savannah caught on to his trick though.  She also had on some polarized glasses and could "see" the fish!
