Yellowstone Vacation

On the way into Yellowstone we had to take the same road we were stuck in for hours the other night and sure enough bison we casually walking down the road! This time we were going opposite of them and were able to enjoy the experience a lot more! Savannah took pictures with her camera and the bison within 2 ft of her window turned and snorted at her! Then he turned and crossed behind our car and in front of Mamma and Papas car where the boys were riding so we all got a close personal encounter with the big bison beast!
We stopped at a stream above Gibbon Falls to try a little fishing again. The kids and guys were all spread out casting away when one of those bisons decided to saunter back our way. He left the road and headed straight for our fishing spot. A mad scramble to the cars to stay in the safe zone I’m sure made a hilarious sight. After he left fishing resumed and Grant caught a trout. The kids were delighted and Luke tried to find his way over to Grant screaming at Mamma that he had to go around the “thermal features”. Although that one was dried up and safe to cross it was cute that he got the idea we drilled into their heads this week!
Today was a day for waterfalls! We did the extremely steep trail that will put your health to the test as it was basically straight down with switchbacks to keep you from falling. Standing on the brink of that much water falling over 308 feet to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone will have your heart skipping a beat especially when your 4 kiddos lean all their weight on railing. ðŸ˜³ Caroline finally got permission from Savannah to use her camera and went to town posing everyone. No surprise everyone listened and followed her directions. She said “I just want it to be perfect!”.
On the way to artist point Grant spied a cinnamon colored black bear and caused a traffic jam as everyone joined us watching him. There were probably 150 people that would have never have seen a bear if it wasn’t for Grant.
We traveled through Hayden Valley and watched an elk herd and saw a bald eagle ðŸ¦…. Finally heading to the cabin for the last night we were surrounded on all sides by a bison herd of mainly Mamas and baby calves.
