Getting WET

I have great memories of growing up at Big Splash.  And looking back I think I should give my Mom an award of bravery for taking us there so often.  Lots of people, lots of places to float off to, and kids who don't understand why Mom's panic.

River Country Water Park in Muskogee, OK
Last year we discovered this smaller water park in Muskogee that is perfect for young children and is a fraction of the cost of Big Splash these days.  River Country is a family water park that we found to be clean and fun at a fraction of the cost of Big Splash. Click here for the River Country Water Park website for directions and such.

We got there right before the gates opened at 11am and ate a picnic.  No food or drinks are allowed inside (including water) but I think next time I'll take empty water bottles and fill them up from the fountains.  Last year we tried to eat there and it just took too long.  The picnic was perfect.  You can also get your hand stamped and re-enter if you want to picnic later.

The kids loved it!  They have grown a lot since last year and no longer fear the water pouring out of the play equipment.  Luke still preferred the little frog slide but the rest owned the water playground. Savannah and two of her cousins spent most of their time in the other pool that was designed for older children.  The ropes over the balancing objects were a big hit as they could just barely do it and were so proud of their accomplishments.  Then they discovered the slides! By the end of the day they were going up and down by themselves.

The one thing they did all together was the lazy river.  It is only lazy if you are in a tube not worried about a child floating off and drowning without your watch or maybe worse yet getting out of the river without you while you keep going round and round searching.  This didn't happen but it could or at least my Mommy fears feasted on those thoughts.

Braum's Ice Cream
We had a great day!  They loved it!  And there is a Braum's at the corner for a treat before heading back to Tulsa.
